Established in 1946, the National Metallurgical Laboratory (NML) has been at the forefront of metallurgical research and development in India. Located in the industrial hub of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, we are dedicated to advancing materials science and engineering for sustainable industrial growth.

Collaborated with a major automotive manufacturer to develop a new grade of high-strength low-alloy (HSLA) steel that reduces vehicle weight by 15% while maintaining crash safety standards. The project involved alloy design, thermo-mechanical processing optimization, and full-scale testing. Results contributed to a patent (IN234567) and implementation in production lines.

Automotive Steel Testing

Corrosion Research

Pioneered a hydrometallurgical process to recover gold, silver, and palladium from discarded printed circuit boards (PCBs).
